Frequently asked questions.
What types of therapy do you offer?
At Introspective Collective, we offer a range of styles to meet your personal needs. Our therapists are trained in evidence-based practices such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Exposure and Response Prevention, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, Somatic Therapy, Psychodynamic Therapy, Mindfulness, and Brainspotting. Services can be tailored to your unique needs. For example, some people prefer structure, skills and homework and some prefer more of a talk therapy style to process their challenging emotions and reactions.
How do I know if therapy is right for me?
Therapy can be a helpful resource for anyone looking to address a variety of challenges in their life. If you’re feeling overwhelmed, stuck, or struggling with difficult emotions or behaviors that are affecting your daily functioning, therapy might be a good fit. Therapy can also be beneficial if you're experiencing anxiety, depression, relationship difficulties, trauma, or stress.
Even if you're not sure what exactly you're struggling with, therapy can provide a space to explore your feelings and gain clarity. Often, individuals seek therapy to better understand themselves, build healthier coping strategies, or work through unresolved past experiences.
If you find yourself facing patterns of thought or behavior that you want to change, therapy offers a structured environment to address those issues. It can also help you develop a deeper understanding of your emotions, relationships, and personal goals.
If you're uncertain, we offer an initial consultation where you can discuss your concerns and expectations. This consultation helps you determine whether therapy aligns with your needs and if our approach feels right for you.
How do I choose the right therapist for my needs?
Choosing the right therapist is a deeply personal decision, and it’s essential to find someone who aligns with your goals, values, and therapeutic preferences. Here are some factors to consider when selecting a therapist:
Specialty and Experience:
Each therapist has different areas of expertise, whether it's working with specific populations (LGBTQIA+, neurodivergent individuals) or addressing particular concerns (anxiety, trauma, grief). It’s important to consider the therapist’s training and experience in areas that align with your needs.Therapeutic Approach:
Therapists use various approaches to treatment, and each one may work better for different people. For example, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is practical and skills-based, while Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) incorporates mindfulness and emotional regulation techniques. Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) focuses on values-based living. Exploring the therapist's therapeutic style can help you decide if it resonates with you.Personality and Fit:
While the therapist’s qualifications and approach are important, research shows that the strength of the therapeutic relationship plays a far more significant role in the success of therapy than the specific therapeutic method used. In fact, a strong, trusting connection with your therapist can often lead to better outcomes, regardless of the particular therapy modality employed. It’s crucial to choose someone with whom you feel comfortable, understood, and supported. Therapy is a collaborative process, and when you feel safe and valued, it creates the foundation for meaningful change. If the therapist’s personality and approach feel like a good match, it can make a big difference in how effective your sessions will be.Accessibility:
It’s also important to consider logistical factors such as the therapist’s availability, location, whether they offer teletherapy, and whether their fees and insurance options work within your budget.Consultation and Communication:
Most therapists offer an initial consultation or intake session. This is an excellent opportunity to ask questions about their approach, experience, and whether they believe they are the right fit for your needs. It’s also a chance for you to gauge how comfortable you feel in the conversation. Trust your instincts—if something feels off, it’s okay to try someone else.
At Introspective Collective, we encourage you to reach out for an initial consultation where we can discuss your needs and help you determine which of our clinicians would be the best fit. We want to ensure you feel supported and confident in the therapeutic process.
Do you offer therapy for specific issues or populations?
Yes, we specialize in a variety of issues and populations, including anxiety, depression, trauma, LGBTQIA+ concerns, and relationship struggles. We also provide therapy for individuals coping with grief, self-compassion, perfectionism, ADHD, OCD, and more. Our team is trained in approaches that are affirming and inclusive, ensuring we offer the highest level of care for all individuals.
What can I expect during a therapy session?
Therapy sessions are a safe space for you to explore your thoughts, feelings, and behaviors with the guidance of a trained professional. During your first session, we’ll discuss your goals and background to better understand your needs. Future sessions typically involve a combination of conversation, learning skills, and exercises to help you address challenges and make positive changes. The process is collaborative, and your therapist will work with you to develop an individualized plan.
How long does therapy typically last?
The length of therapy varies depending on your goals and needs. Some people may see progress in a few sessions, while others may benefit from longer-term therapy. We work with you to set goals and regularly assess progress to ensure that you are receiving the support you need. We also offer both short-term and long-term therapy options based on your preferences.
What are your therapists' qualifications and experience?
Our team consists of highly qualified clinicians who have completed advanced degrees. Each therapist has specialized training in various therapeutic modalities and extensive experience in working with diverse populations. We are committed to ongoing professional development and providing high-quality care. Associate clinicians are provided regular supervision with a licensed clinician with over 15 years of experience. You can learn more about each therapist's qualifications and specialties on our team page.
How confidential is therapy?
Confidentiality is a fundamental part of the therapeutic process. We are committed to protecting your privacy and following strict confidentiality guidelines as required by law. There are certain situations, such as imminent risk of harm or legal requirements, where we may be required to disclose information, but these instances are rare. We are always happy to discuss the limits of confidentiality with you and confidentiality laws are shared in the initial paperwork. Feel free to ask a clinician during your consultation if you have any questions around confidentiality.
How much does therapy cost? Do you accept insurance?
Our therapy fees are $160 for private pay sessions, $180 for initial consultations. We accept several insurance plans including Cigna, Providence, PacificSource, and Blue Cross Blue Shield. We recommend contacting us directly to discuss your specific insurance coverage and payment options. If you are unsure about insurance or fees, we can help guide you through the process.
